RARS, Palem- AICRP on Castor- Field Day Report on 25.02.2023

AICRP – Castor scheme at RARS, Palem has organised a field day on rabi castor cultivation under Tribal Sub Plan scheme. The programme was organised in collaboration with ICAR – IIOR, Rajendranagar. The programme was conducted in Sri.V.Khesya’s castor field at Erra Kunta Thanda of Bijanepally Mandal on 25.02.2023. The farmer has taken up rabi castor in 2 acres of land and followed all recommended package of practice. He is expected to get on average yield of 10-12 quintals per acre. In this programme, Dr.M. Malla Reddy, Associate Director Research, Southern Telangana Zone, Palem addressed the farming community on importance of oilseeds crop cultivation and encouraged farmers for extension of area under oilseeds crops. In this meeting, AICRP on castor scientists i.e., Dr. N. Nalini (Improved production technologies of rabi castor), Dr.G.Eswara Reddy (Varieties and hybrids of castor), Mrs. G. Madhuri (castor Pests), Dr.V.Divya Rani (castor diseases) of RARS, Palem briefly explained & AEO’s also attended the meeting and suggested importance of crop diversification and encouraged farmers to take up oilseeds crops. A total of 70 farmers have attended the meeting and interacted with Associate Director Research, STZ & other scientists and received valuable suggestions from the experts.
