Rythu dinotsavam inview of "Telangana Rashtra Avatarana Dashabdi Utsavalu" at Auditorium, RARS Palem, NagarKurnool District on 03-06-2023

A Rythu dinotsavam was jointly organized by RARS, Palem, Agricultural College, Palem, KVK, Palem and Agricultural Polytechnic, Palem in view of Agricultural Day as part of Telangana Rashtra Avatarana Dashabdi Utsavalu at Auditorium, RARS, Palem on 03.06.2023.Smt.K.Mamatha, Scientist (Agronomy), RARS, Palem welcomed the dignitaries on to the dias. The programme was started with lighting of the lamp by the guests which was followed by invocation of University song. Dr.M. Malla Reddy, ADR, RARS, Palem highlighted the mandates of the university, various research activities and schemes being operated in Southern Telangana Zone, the progress made by the university since its inception, various agricultural institutes at Palem campus, research activities farmer outreach programmes of RARS, Palem. Dr. S. Vanisree, P.S. (Oil Seeds), presented on the significant achievements of RARS, Palem since 2014 such as release of varieties in several crop viz., Redgram (PRG-176, Mannenkonda Kandi),Sorghum( Telangana Jonna-1, Palem Jonna-1, Palem Pacha Jonna, Palamuru jonna), Castor (Pragathi), Groundnut (Jagtial Palli-1), Mapping of nutrient status of Nagarkurnool district, Organizing RAHACT project for climate resilience to rainfed farmers of Nagarkurnool, Mahabubnagar and Wanaparthy districts, demonstration of mechanized rice planting, seeds of various crop varieties produced and spread across the zone and income generated through seed production etc,. Dr.R.Susheela, Associate Dean i/c, Agricultural College, Palem suggested the farmers to adopt commercial farming instead of conventional farming. Dr. K.Charan Teja, Asst. Professor (Agronomy) highlighted important achievements of the Agricultural college palem from its day of formation i.e., on 14th August, 2015 and till date 226 students graduated from the college out of which 94 % secured first class marks. Good number of students are pursuing higher studies in reputed national and international institutions. Dr. T.Prabhakar Reddy, Programme Coordinator, KVK, Palem and Dr.K.Rajamani, Scientist, DAATTC, Palem presented the technologies and varieties popularized since 2014 of KVK, Palem and DAATTC, Palem respectively. Dr.K.Kalyani, Principal i/c, APT, Palem highlighted the achievements of the students in securing jobs and awrds received by the College. Smt. Lavanya Nagaraju, Sarpanch, Palem highlighted the increased cultivation of cotton and rice after Telangana formation and stressed nutritional values and health benefits of minor millets and sesame. Smt. Madhavi, Sarpanch, Kotalgadda Venkatapur highlighted the increased irrigation facilities after foprmation of Telangana. Sri. D.Narayana, REAC member, Southern Telangana Zone shared his experience on organic redgram production. All the teaching and non teaching staff of RARS, Agricultural College, KVK, DAATTC and APT, Palem, and 250 farmers from Palem, Kummera, Vasantapur, Gamgaram, Karukonda, Lattupalli, Devarakadra villages have participated. Dr.D.Vijaya Lakshmi, Scientist (SSAC), RARS, Palem has proposed the formal vote of thanks.
