World soil day was organized on December 5th,2023 at adopted village Boppelli(V), Telkapalli (M), Nagarkurnool district by RARS, Palem with the theme : Soil and Water: As a Associate Director of Research, STZ, RARS, Palem was the chief guest who highlighted the importance of soil in everyday life and explained about good agricultural practices to improve the soil health and educated the farmers on the importance of soil testing for balanced fertilizer application.. Dr.S.Vanisri, Principal Scientist(OilSeeds),RARS, Palem explained about the varietal availability, prospects of seed production and mechanized harvest in groundnut crop for the interested progressive farmers of the adopted village. Dr. D.Shashibhushan, Principal Scientist, Millets scheme, RARS, Palem highlighted the importance of maintenance of soil health for sustainability of future generations. Dr.K.Sridhar, Scientist (Agronomy), RARS, Palem explained the importance of organic manures, green manures on soil health and clarified the questions raised by the farmers for control of weeds in different crops. Dr.M.Shankar, Scientist (Entomology), RARS, Palem explained the pest management in different crops. Dr.D.Vijaya Lakshmi, Scientist (Soil Science), RARS, Palem has explained the importance of soil testing and soil health cards interpretation of soil test values for fertilizer application in soil health cards. Thirty Soil health cards were distributed to the concerned farmers of the village. Sri. K.Chandrasekhar, District Agriculture Officer, Nagarkurnool, Sri. Sandeep Reddy, Mandal Agricultural Officer, Ms. Jyothsna, AEO, Boppelli and 65 farmers have participated.
