Farmers - Scientists Interaction” at Ibrahimpur, an adopted village of ARS, Tornala on 29-09-2021

A programme on “Farmers - Scientists Interaction” was organized by Dr. A.V. Ramanjaneyulu, Sr. Scientist (Agro.) & Head, Dr. N. Sainath, Scientist (SSAC) from ARS, Tornala. Mr. J. Vijay, Coordinator and Smt. Ch. Pallavi, Scientist (Crop production) from DAATTC, Tornala at Ibrahimpur, Narayanraopet mandal, Siddipet district on 29-09-2021, Mr. M. Nagarjuna, AEO, Ibrahimpur village, Mr. Devaiah, Sarpanch, Ibrahimpur village, Mr. K. Nagesh Reddy, President of Rythu Samanvaya Samithi (RSS), Mr. V, Kameshawara Raju, G-COT, Hyderabad and 43 farmers from the village have participated in the programme. Many farmers actively participated in farmers-scientists interactive session and raised several problems in raising different crops. At the outset, Mr. M. Nagarjuna, AEO, Ibrahimpur, gave an overview of rice varieties that are being grown by the village farmers and associated problem in the event of heavy rains. Later, Dr. A.V. Ramanjaneyulu, gave a brief note on cultivation of Rabi paddy alternate crops and benefits, followed by zero tillage maize and sunflower in rice fallows and also explained cultivation of greengram, blackgram, groundnut and sesame in Rabi/summer. He also assured farmers of technical backstopping and support for 40 acres in terms of seed and other inputs if they come forward to grow sunflower in the ensuing rabi season. He also congratulated the farmers for adopting green manuring (dhaincha, sunhemp and greengram) in 355 acres during and saving of 400 bags of urea (Rs. 1,20,000) during kharif 2021.Smt. Ch. Pallavi, Scientist (Crop Production) has explained about pest and diseases management paddy and redgram crops pest and diseases (stem borer in paddy: Chlorantraniliprole 0.3 ml/litre or cartap hydrochloride 2 g/litre and wilt in phytopthora redgram and fusarium wilt in cotton: drenching COC 3g/litre). Mr. J. Vijay, Coordinator discussed in details about reasons for lodging and precaution to be taken. Dr. N. Sainath, Scientist (SSAC) gave a note on soil fertility status of Ibrahimpur village. He also explained about the nutrient management in paddy and cotton, micronutrient deficiencies and sources of fertilizers and emphasized on soil test based fertilizer application. Mr. V, Kameshawara Raju, G-COT spoke on cultivation of Telangana Sona (RNR-15048)-120 acres, sunflower-100 acres, organic paddy cultivation-40 acres and black rice-20 acres in Ibrahimpur village and agreed to buy back the seed at higher price than minimum support price.
