Field visit to Rice Minikits at Japthiveerappagudem (V), Miryalaguda (M), Nalgonda (Dist) conducted by Scientists, KVK, Kampasagar on 05-11-2020

Field visit to Rice Minikits RNR-21278, JGL-27356 and JGL-28545 at Japthiveerappagudem (V), Miryalaguda (M), Nalgonda (Dist) was conducted by Scientists of KVK and ARS, Kampasagar on 5.11.2020. Dr.M.A.Aariff Khan, Programme Coordinator briefed the farmers about the significance of testing Minikits rice varieties in farmers field before releasing new varieties in ensuing year. Later monitored and observed growth performance and other parameters of the Minikits. S.Pallavi, SMS (Extension) cum Minikits incharge explained about the characteristics features of the Minikits and recorded the biometrical observations. Dr.M.Shankar, SMS (Plant Protection) explained the major pests and disease incidences and Dr.T.Bharath, SMS (Crop Production) briefed about the package of practices to be followed and mechanization in rice. Later Dr. Damodar Raju, Principal Scientists (Plant Breeding) & Head and Dr. K. Sumalaini, Senior Scientist (Plant Breeding) Agricultural Research Station spoke about the marketing and milling aspects in bold and fine varieties. Minikits JGL-27356 and JGL-28545 crop at grain hardening stage, non lodging and observed slight incidence of False smut disease. RNR-21278 crop is also at grain hardening stage and observed slight incidence of panicle mite. Farmer expressed that the Minikits are performing well at local field conditions and expecting good yields by observing the crop performance. Scientists, Department Officials and 30 fellow farmers all together 30 participated.
