The B. Sc. (Agriculture) students numbering 13 from Agriculture College, Palem were attached for RAWEP 2024 – 25 to DAATTC , Tandur. As part of course curriculum, students conducted Rythu Sadassu cum Agricultural Exhibition under the guidance and support of DAATTC, Tandur on 20.11.2024 at Bomraspet village and mandal, Vikarabad Dt. The exhibition stall was visited by Dr. B.Pushpavathi, Associate Dean, Agriculture College, Palem along with Dr.Parimala Principal scientist, Department of Plant Breeding, farmers and farm women along with Dr. T. Laxman Programme Coordinator , scientists Dr. Sujatha and Dr.Yamuna Reddy of DAATTC, Tandur and Dr.Neema, Assistant professor, Agriculture College Palem. All of them viewed the models exhibited on various technologies like closer spacing in cotton, Cultivation of Oil palm , types of mulching, rain water harvesting, IFS, Solar irrigation, Farm machinery, Drone Technology in agriculture, Water saving technologies, Agroforestry, Vermi compost, Farm pond and percolation tank. Large number of farmers, farm women, rural youth, students, DAATTC staff and department personnel participated in Rythusadassu cum Agricultural Exhibition from Vikarabad District. At first Dr.T.Laxman Programme Coordinator spoke on High density Cotton Cultivation. Later, programme was continued by Dr.Parimala by clarifying doubts of farmers on Groundnut and Paddy cultivation in Rabi.The farmers were sensitised on crop diversification during rabi, use of short duration paddy varieties during rabi, importance of decomposing crop residues by waste decomposer and SSP to prevent Environmental Pollution. Dr.B.Pushpavathi Associate Dean Agricultural College, Palem suggested farmers to store their produce for sowing in next season and sensitised farmers to go for processing and value addition to get additional benefits with provided risks. The programme continued with feedback from students on their experience during the RAWEP period and farmer’s response to students’ involvement in various activities during their interaction with them. Farmer – scientist interaction was organised to clarify the queries related to yasangi crops.
