The Birth anniversary of Smt. Savitribai Phule was celebrated as “Women Teachers Day” at College of Food Science and Technology, Rudrur on 03.01.2025. All the teaching, non-teaching, outsourcing staff and students were participated in the event. The teaching, non-teaching, outsourcing staff and students paid tributes to Smt. Savitribai Phule with garlanded and coconut followed by floral tributes. The teaching, non- teaching staff and students were given speech about Smt. Savitri bai Phule. The college Associate Dean addressed the gathering and expressed happiness and paid tributes to Smt. Savitri bai Phule. She also mentioned that, in 1848, she became the first female teacher in India when she opened a school for girls in Pune with her husband Jyotirao Phule. She opened schools for Dalits, lower-caste women, and Untouchable girls. She led campaigns against child marriage and supported widow remarriage. She played a crucial role in establishing the Satyashodhak Samaj (Society for Truth-Seeking) in 1873, which fought for equality of all classes were highlighted.
