Seed Mela 2024 organized by KVK, Malyal on 24-05-2024

KVK, Malyal organized Seed Mela on 24-05-2024 at KVK, Malyal. Dr. N. Kishore Kumar SMS (Extn.) welcome dignitaries on the Dais. Explained the significance of the programme and Paddy varieties available in the PJTSAU, characteristics of different newly released varieties. Sri B. Kranthi Kumar SMS (Crop Production.) explained, about pulses importance and green gram, black gram and red gram varieties available in the different centers of PJTSAU, characteristics of different newly released varieties in pulses, Dr. E. Rambabu, SMS (Hort.) explained about nursery management in chilli and turmeric varieties, time of sowing and seed treatment methods in different horticulture crops. Sri. M.Thirupathi Reddy, MAO, Mahabubabad explained about Requirement of quality seed, precautions to be taken while purchasing seed. Dr. S. Malathi, Programme coordinator, explained about use of green manure crops for betterment of soil health conditions, dry direct seeded Rice, HDPS Cotton, utilization of PSB incorporation and split application of balanced fertilizers and importance of seed production for higher yield. Farmers are requested to remember that every year. The agricultural university and its regional research stations, KVKs conduct seed mela on 24th May and they should utilize the opportunity for procuring quality seed of PJTSAU released varieties in different crops as per their need. During the programme, Farmer scientist interaction meeting was conducted, Smt. A. Saritha AEO, Malyal and KVK Malyal staff and 76 farmers participated in the programme. During the mela, paddy seed of WGL-44, WGL-962, KNM-118 and red gram of WRGe-97 was put for sale and many other varieties were displayed.
