Seed Mela at RARS, Palem on 24th May, 2024

Organized seed mela by Regional Agricultural Research Station, Palem on 24th May, 2024 at Silver Jubli Auditorium. All the Scientists from RARS, Palem, KVK, Palem, DAATTC, Mahabubnagar and farmers (appromix. 1500) from different districts of Southern Telangana Zone viz., Nagarkurnool, Mahabubnagar, Narayanpet Jogulamba Gadwal,Wanaparthy, press and electronic media have also taken part in the meeting. Dr.K. Sadaiah, Scientist (Pl.Br.) extended a warm welcome to the Dr. M. Malla Reddy, Associate Director of Research, STZ, Dr. B. Pushpavathi, Associate Dean, Agricultural College, Palem, Dr. Ch. Bharat Bhushan Rao, Coordinator, DAATTC, Mahabubnagar, Dr. T. Prabhaker Reddy, Programme Coordinator, KVK, Palem, Sri. J. Chandrasheker, ADSC, TSSOCA, Gadwal, Sri, Manohar Reddy, District Development Manager, NABARD, Mahabubnagar and Smt. Lavanya Ramana Reddy, REAC member, STZ. Dr. M. Malla Reddy, Associate Director of Research briefed about importance of seed mela and emphasized to increase the area under millets, pulses and oilseed crops by the farming community. Dr. K. Sadaiah, Scientist (Pl.Br.), RARS, Palem gave presentation on seed availability of different crops at Palem and their characteristics. Dr. V. DivyaRani, Scientist (Pathology), RARS, Palem explained in detaile about importance of seed treatment and its benefits in various crops. Dr. O. Shaila, SMS (Entomology), KVK, Palem explained about High Density Planting in Cotton. Dr. Ch. Bharat Bhushan Rao, Coordinator, DAATTC, Mahabubnagar briefed about importance of micronutrients and green manuring. Dr. B. Pushpavathi, Associate Dean, Agricultural College, Palem emphasized about selection of good seed material and precautions in storage of seed material by and within farmers level. Smt. Lavanya Ramana Reddy, REAC member STZ organic farming. All the queries of farmers explained by concerned scientists. All logistics provided smoothly to the farming community. Mrs. N. Navatha, Scientist (Agro) proposed formal vote of thanks. A Total of 385.67 quintals of seed (all crop varieties) was sold during seed mela -2024 at RARS, Palem which is to a worth of Rs. 23,51,560/- (Rupees Twenty Three Lakh Fifty one Thousand five hundred and sixty only). A Total of 39.12 quintals of seed (Paddy and Redgram) was sold by KVK, Palem which is to a worth of Rs. 5, 99, 850/- (Rupees Five Lakh Ninety Nine Thousand Eight Hundred Fiftyonly).
