4 days of skill training programme on “Value added Food products from Millets” at kvk, Malyal from 3rd to 6th January, 2024

KVK, Malyal organized 4 days Skill Training Programme on “Value added Food products from Millets” from 3rd to 6th January, 2024 at KVK, Malyal under ARYA Project, 2023-24 to Women. The training started with inaugural session on 03-01-2024. Sri. B. Kranthi Kumar, SMS (Crop Production) and Course in charge, KVK, Malyal explained about need, objective and importance of the programme. Dr. S. Malathi, Programme Coordinator addressed the gathering and opined that training would be useful to ensure balanced nutrition at household level and to ensure economic security by starting micro entrepreneurship. On 1st day (03-01-2024), Dr. S. Vahini, E.O. (Grade-I Supervisor), Dept. WD & CW, Mahabubabad participated as resource person and delivered lectures on “Nutritional importance of Millets in our diet, Ways and means of incorporation of Millets in our diet and practical session on “preparation of Sajja laddu” . On 2nd day (04-01-2024), the trainees were taken on an Exposure visit to the “Annapurna Home foods”, of Gudur Mandal. Smt. A. Swarupa, and K. Swapna two women entrepreneurs of Annapurna home foods explained about their success as Millet food entrepreneurship. Later, a practical session was held on millet based food products. The trainees prepared different millet products like, Bajra laddu and Ragi laddu, Payasam etc. after hands on training in these receipies. On 3rd day (05-01-2024), Smt. N. Sugandhi, PA (Home Science), KVK, Gaddipalli participated as resource perso n and delivered lectures on “Entrepreneurship development through millets – prospects and challenges” and practical session on “Preparation of millet products (Jowar murukulu, Jonna chekkalu and Jonna pindi pakodi)”.On 4th day (06-01-2024), Smt. T. Latha, CEO, Lakshyam NGO, delivered lectures on “Composite mixed millet gatka for diabetic patients”, ready mix millet formulations for upma. In the afternoon, she gave training on Preparation of millet products (Millet gatka), upma with ready mix mixture, etc. Later, In the valedictory session, Dr. S. Malathi, Programme Coordinator, KVK, Malyal highlighted that, the importance of millets, She suggested to the trainee participants should utilize the opportunity for entrepreneurship. 25 No of women attended the training.
