KVK, Malyal organized a 4 days Skill Training Programme on “Sheep and Goat rearing” from 22nd to 25th January, 2025 at Rythuvedika, Gudur under DAPST (Tribal Sub Plan) Project, 2024-25. The training started with inaugural session on 22-01-2025. Dr. E. Rambabu, SMS (Hort.) & Co-PI of TSP explained about the objectives of this training programme. Dr. Bhanu, Assistant Director, Veterinary & Animal husbandry, Gudur requested the participants to utilize the services of local veterinary doctors for betterment of animals’ health. Dr. S. Malathi, Programme Coordinator, KVK, Malyal suggested the participants to utilize this opportunity to take up self employment in agriculture and allied sectors and share knowledge to the neighboring farmers. Dr. J. Sai Kiran, SMS (Livestock Production Management), KVK, Mamnoor, Warangal participated as resource person and delivered lectures on types of breeds of sheep and goat, criteria to be followed while selecting animals and different systems of rearing & care and management of new born, managemental practices and breeding strategies to be followed till marketing. On 2nd day (23-01-2025), Dr. L. Vidyasagar, Assistant Professor (LFC), College of Veterinary Sciences, Mamnoor, Warangal participated as resource person and delivered lectures on Feeding management in sheep and goat & Nutritional challenges in feeding sheep and goat. On 3rd day (24-01-2025), the trainees were taken on Exposure visit to Livestock Research Station (PVNRTVU), Mamnoor, Warangal where Dr. K. Prashanth, Scientist, LRS, Mamnoor acted as resource person and explained about different demonstration units (Sheep unit, poultry birds unit, poultry hatchery unit, Buffalo Dairy unit and Fodder blocks) maintained at LRS. On 4th day (25-01-2025), Dr. P. Srinath, VAS, Naikanpalli, Gudur participated as resource person and explained about the National Livestock Mission (NLM) - Entrepreneurship Developmental Programme & Sheep and goat deworming and Vaccination. In the valedictory session, Dr. S. Malathi, Programme Coordinator, KVK, Malyal requested the participants to establish backyard poultry, sheep and goat units as micro level enterprise for additional income. Later, certificates were distributed to the trainees. Dr. E. Rambabu, SMS (Hort.), Sri Md. Abdul Malik, MAO, Gudur and 25 tribal farmers from 4 TSP adopted villages (Chakru Thanda, Ootla of Gudur Mandal & Eshwaragudem, Doravarivempalli of Kothaguda Mandal) attended the programme.
