Natural farming - Soil Testing - MD and GD at KVK, Wyra on 17.01.2024

Soil testing is an integral part of a soil fertility management program. Effective soil testing provides information on the fertility status of soils within a field that can be used for making fertilizer recommendations, changes in soil fertility over time and even identifying and targeting low fertility soils within larger fields. Informative soil sampling can improve on-farm nutrient efficiency, leading to increased return on investment for fertilizer and decreased risk of off-site nutrient movement. Taking into consideration and to enlighten the farmers on soil sample collection KVK, Wyra has conducted method demonstration to 30 farmers on soil sample collection at Nacharam village, Enkoor mandal. The demonstration was led by Dr A Sailaja, Programme Coordinator and YPs -Mr. Srinivas & Mr. Mukesh. In view of the importance of Soil health and soil testing, KVK, Wyra has conducted group discussion on Soil testing to farmers on 17.01.2024. The discussion was attended by Dr. A. Sailaja, Programme Coordinator, D. Mukesh, D Srinivasa at Nacharam Village, Enkoor Mandal, Khammam District along with 30 farmers. The discussion proceeded in a democratic manner and by the end of discussion, the leader summarized the members opinion on various subtopics-what, why, when, where and how of the main topic and were convinced of its significance. The farmers were convinced and gave words that they test the soil of their fields and also promote the importance to fellow farmers and use the fertilizers according to the recommendation. They felt the importance of soil testing.
