People’s poet, Padma Vibhushan popularly known as Praja Kavi, Sri Kaloji Narayana Rao 110th birth anniversary (Jayanthi) celebrations is held at Agricultural College, Adilabad on 09-09-2024. On this occasion, all the Teaching, Non Teaching staff and Students were paid floral tributes to the portrait of Sri. Kaloji Narayana Rao. The programme was started by Dr. M. Suresh, Officer Incharge Student Affairs by the introduction of the importance of the event. In his addressed to the gathering stated that Govt. of Telangana in honour of Telangana poet Kaloji Narayani Rao has declared his birth anniversary as Telangana language day or Telangana Bhasha Dinosthavam. Sri Kaloji Narayana Rao has participated in many movements including the separate statehood movement. He had spent his life by motivating people socially and politically, used his pen as a gun and wrote poems that had a great impact on the people. Later, Dr. Sreedhar Chauhan, Associate Dean, said that Sri. Kaloji Narayana Rao was Indian poet, freedom fighter and political activist of Telangana. During his student days and later, he was participated in Arya Samaj Movement, especially in the domain of civil rights. He was also involved in Andhra Maha Sabha activities and library movements. He was the part of the freedom movement of Hyderabad State and underwent imprisonment under the Nizam. His commitments towards the human rights made him a popular personality in the state and his lyrics published in various languages. He was awarded an honorary doctorate by Kakatiya University. In September 2014, the Government of Telangana in his honour, named the Medical University Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences at Warangal after him. He was awarded the Padma Vibhushan in 1992. He addressed the gathering by remembering him as a great humanist who stood as a role model for many and became an inspiration for present generation youth. He recited the slogan of Kaloji Narayani Rao 'birth is yours, death is yours but the life is meant for the country' (Puttukaneedhi, chavuneedhi kani brathukantha deshanidhi). Kaloji is known for writing poems in different and unique styles. The programme was attended by Dr. G. Anitha, Assoc. Professor (Ento.) and other Teaching and Non- teaching staff of Agricultural College, Adilabad. The event ended with vote of thanks proposed by Dr.M. Suresh, OISA, Agricultural College, Adilabad.
