Training programme on “IPM & Fruit Fly management in fruits & vegetable crops” Agricultural College, Sircilla on 25-04-2022

Agricultural College, Sircilla organized training programme on “IPM & Fruit Fly management in fruits & vegetable crops” at Narmetta Village, Venkatapur Mandal, Siddipet district in collaboration with the Horticulture department on 25.04.2022. As part of the programme, Dr. T. Uma Maheswari, Associate Dean, Agricultural College, Sircilla emphasized IPM as an effective and environmentally safe approach for pest management that includes cultural, mechanical, physical, biological and chemical methods. She also explained about harmful effects of chemicals on environment and organisms living on the earth. Dr. R. Sathish, Asst. Professor (Ento.) told that farmers should not depend only on chemical pesticides use the alternate non-chemical methods of pest management practices. He also gave information on status, biology nature of damage and integrated approaches to manage the fruit flies attacking different fruits and vegetable crops. He demonstrated practically about preparation of cost effective traps for fruit flies to the farmers. Dr. M. Sampath Kumar, Asst. Professor (Agril. Extension) explained about mobile apps used for diagnosis of pests and diseases by using smart phones. In this programme, Mr. Bhaskar Reddy (Horticulture Officer), Mrs. Meera (AEO) and village farmers were participated.
