Training programme on Crop Diversification- Opportunities and Management Practices for Sesame Cultivation in Telangana state and distribution of Agricultural inputs to SC farmers was conducted at Regional Agricultural Research Station, Polasa, Jagtial on 16.7.2021 under SCSP Project. The programme was chaired by Dr. P. Jagan Mohan Rao, Associate Director of Research, Regional Agricultural Research Station, Polasa, Jagtial. Dr. P. Jagan Mohan Rao, Associate Director of Research, addressed the farmers about crop diversification and opportunities for sesame cultivation in Northern Telangana Zone and importance of crop rotation with pulse crops in enriching the soil health. He briefed about the importance of oil in day today life and oil demand in international market. He also informed the participants about the inception and importance of the SCSP scheme and its role in upliftment of weaker section of country. Dr. D Padmaja, Scientist, Sesame Breeding, RARS, Polasa, Jagtial briefed about the techniques in sesame seed production and value addition to sesame products like seed and by products like seed cake. Dr. N. Balram, Scientist (Pl. Path.) has explained about the sesame disease management practices. Sri.P. Madhukar Rao, Scientist (Agro.) has explained the water and fertilizer management in sesame crop cultivation. Later on Dr. P. Jagan Mohan Rao, Associate Director of Research, scientists and Sarpanch of Joginpally village distributed inputs i.e. sesame seed and battery sprayers to 51 beneficiary farmers. The feedback from beneficiary farmers was taken on the services of research station in motivating the farmers in sesame seed production and other latest technologies in agriculture. An exhibition of sesame varieties and cold pressed oil were displayed at the venue. In this programme all the Scientists from RARS, Jagtial and beneficiary SC farmers from Joginpally village were participated.
