On November 08, 2024, The District Agricultural Advisory and Transfer of Technology Centre (DAATTC) at Sangupet organized a Training Program on High Density Planting System Cotton and Agricultural Students (RAWEP 2024-25) Rythusadassu as well as Agricultural Exhibition was organized under the auspices of DAATT Center Sangupet. In the programme, the students briefed the farmers on different types of farming models, including comprehensive farming practices, horticulture and animal husbandry, and agricultural demonstrations like high density cotton cropping model etc,. Sri. K. Rahul Vishwakarma, Coordinator of the DAATT Center, explained to the farmers about the benefits of high-density cotton cultivation. He emphasized that compared to traditional cotton farming, this method results in a higher number of plants per acre—ranging from 22,222 to 25,000 plants. As a result, the crop matures earlier, allowing farmers to harvest before the onset of pink bollworm infestations, ultimately leading to higher yields and improved net income. Dr. P. Ravi Kumar (SMS, Plant Protection) and Dr. N. Pratap Reddy (SMS, Agronomy), both scientists from KVK, Tuniki, highlighted that adopting this method would not only enhance cotton yields but also they advised against the burning of crop residue in paddy fields, stressing its negative environmental impact. Dr. T. Shobha Rani, Principal Scientist (GPBR) at ARS, Nathanaipally, pointed out that high-density farming enables farmers to complete the first crop early, thus allowing time to sow seeds for the second crop. In the program, Smt. K. Sarita (Scientist) discussed the appropriate varieties for the Rabi season and the recommended farming practices to maximize crop success. In this Event Mandal Agriculture Officers Smt. Praveena, Smt. Chaitanya, Smt. K. Swapna, Sri. Srihari and YP 2 - Rekha Manoj, YP 1- S. Srikanth and farmers of respective villages participated in the programme.
