Training Programmes on Industrial Agroforestry and Sapling distribution under Tribal Sub plan by AICRP on Agroforestry on 06.07.2024 and 07.07.2024

Two training programmes on ‘Industrial Agroforestry’ cum ‘Sapling distribution’ were organized under Tribal Sub-plan by AICRP on Agroforestry, PJTSAU, Hyderabad in Bhadradri Kothagudem district in collaboration with a NGO SSGS (Society for Sampoorna Grama Swaraj), Bhadrachalam at Mogaralaguppa on 06.07.2024 and at Rachuipally village, Dammapet mandal on 07.07.2024. The programme was attended by Dr. A.V. Ramanjaneyulu, Principal Scientist (Agro.) and Head, AICRP on Agroforestry, PJTSAU, Rajendranagar, Mr. Ch. Sateesh Kumar, Project Officer, Mr. S. Ranga Rao, Programme Co-ordinator, B. Muthyala Rao, Mr. S. Shankar, Mr. P. Ramesh and Mr. P. Prashanth, Co-ordinators from SSGS. Nearly 30 tribal farmers also participated in each training programme. At the outset, Dr. A.V. Ramanjaneyulu has enlightened the farmers about best bet silvicultural practices to be followed in Eucalyptus based Agroforestry systems besides backward and forward linkages. He suggested compulsory green manuring with dhaincha or sunhemp at the start of monsoon season and incorporate the same insitu after 45 DAS for enhancing soil fertility and overcome negatives effects of allelopathy. He also advocated paired row system of planting to grow intercrops like cotton/maize/green gram/blakcgram/groundnut/redgram for short term returns inview of long term (3-4 years) returns from Eucalyptus. He also told the farmers to apply organic manures every year and timely application of fertilizers and also need based irrigation during dryspells and post monssoon season for realising hgher yields and profits. The SSGS representatives informed that they are ready to support the beneficiary farmers for facilitating supply of quality planting material and technology transfer. 20,000 Eucalyptus (ITC Clone no. 316) were distributed to 20 tribal farmers beloging to Kothuru, Mogaralaguppa, Chandrukunta and Gundalapadu villages in Mulakalapally mandal on 06-07-2024. Further, 15,000 Eucalyptus (ITC Clone no. 316) and 90 Mango saplings (Banganapally) were distributed to 15 tribal farmers beloging to Rachuripally and Ganeshpadu villages in Dammapet mandal on 07-07-2024 on the hands of Dr. A.V. Ramanjaneyulu and representatives of SSGS.
