As part of the training programme Dr. T. Prabhakar Reddy, Programme Coordinator KVK, Palem enlightened the ANMs and ASHAs pivotal role in reducing malnutrition and related issues, promoting healthier pregnancies and ensuring better health outcomes for mothers and children in the rural areas. Mrs. E. Jyoshna SMS (HSC), KVK, Palem explained the link between nutrition and maternal health. Proper nutrition lowers the risk of complications such as anemia, pre-eclampsia, and infections, which can be life-threatening for mothers. Created awareness regarding Malnutrition during pregnancy is association with low birth weight, premature births and higher neonatal mortality. How ANMs and ASHAs can help address this by promoting balanced diets for pregnant women. Emphasised about connection between Adequate maternal nutrition and ensuring proper foetal development, particularly during the first 1,000 days (from conception to two years of age). This period is critical for brain development, and malnutrition can lead to irreversible effects. Role of ANMs and ASHAs in Supporting Lactation and Postpartum Recovery significance of good nutrition to mothers recover from childbirth, regain strength, and improve milk production, which is essential for exclusive breastfeeding. Explained about how ANMs and ASHAs can promote dietary practices that support lactation and provide guidance on specific foods and nutrients that enhance milk quality. Empowering Women and Families in Health Decisions can build confidence in mothers to prioritize their own and their children’s nutrition and can also encourage family support for healthy dietary practices.
