Training Programme on Best Management Practices in Direct Seeding Rice in Kurnavalli Village at KVK, Wyra on 29.01.2025

In Khammam district 36770 acres of area comes under DSR paddy during Yasangi, 2024-25. Direct seeded rice is a vital resource conservation technology in paddy. In future DSR appears to be an alluring option for the future rice farming having the potential for saving the resources like water and labour apart from achieving the sustainable yields under different agro ecological environments. For these KVK, Wyra has done the outstanding contribution which brought the great change in the rice cultivating farmers for transforming from conventional transplanting and adopting the direct seeding rice technology in Khammam district. KVK, Wyra regularly conducting the training programmes on direct seeding rice cultivation and had a major role in day by day increasing in DSR area in Khammam district. As a part of SBI-CSR-DSR project titled “Promotion of Direct seeding Rice for Sustainable Rice Production’ KVK, Wyra along IIRR, Hyderabad scientists conducted training programme on better management practices in direct seeding Rice at Rythuvedika of Kurnavalli Village of Thallada Mandal, Khammam district on 29.01.2025 and for this event 41 direct seeding paddy cultivating farmers from cluster villages Kurnavalli were participated. Wherein Dr Padmavathi, Principal Scientist from Indian Institute for Rice Research Hyderabad, participated in the programme and addressed the gathering as Direct seeding method in Rice need of the hour and management of stem borer in paddy and as a part of control measures erection of slow-release pheromone delta traps for the management of stem borer in rice. Programme coordinator, KVK, Wyra Dr. K. Ravi Kumar was explained about the weed management in direct seeding rice and pest and disease management in Rice Dr. V. Chaitanya, SMS (Horticulture) explained about the importance of direct seeding and project implementation and activities yet to be conducted in DSR project cluster villages and Smt.PSM Phanisri, SMS (Agriculture Extension) explained about the new technologies and mobile apps related to Agriculture to the farmers. In this event 41 farmers, Smt. Triveni, AEO, Kurnavalli were participated and in the training programme farmers were interacted with scientists about present crop condition.
