A training programme on “Production technologies in paddy” was organized by Agricultural Research Station, Tornala on 18-08-2023. The programme was started with the welcome address by Dr. N. Sainath, Scientist, ARS, Tornala. As part of training programme Dr. S. Sridevi, Principal Scientist and Head, ARS, Tornala addressed the gathering and mainly emphasized about the pest management especially stem borer in paddy and its control measures such as installation of pheromone traps (7-8/acre), bird perches, clipping of leaf tips, usage of carbofuron 3G @ 8 kg/ acre or Cartap hydrochloride 4G @ 8 kg/ acre in main field. She also briefed about Potassium and Zinc deficiency and its remedial measures. Sri. J. Vijay, DAATTC, Coordinator, explained about weed management practices in paddy. Dr. N. Sainath, Scientist (SSAC), ARS, Tornala discussed on the soil nutrient management, soil related problems and their management in paddy. Dr. D. Swetha, Scientist (Agro.), ARS, Tornala on water management in paddy cultivation, Dr. E. Uma Rani, Scientist (Pl.Br) and Mrs. A. Saritha, Scientist (Pl.Br), ARS, Tornala explained on paddy seed production- problems and prospects. Dr. Ch. Pallavi, Scientist (TOT) gave a brief note on disease management in paddy. The programme was attended by Smt. T. Venkata Ramani, MAO, Mr. T. Nagarjuna, AEO of Narayanraopet mandal, Sri Devayya, Sarpanch, Sri K. Nagesh Reddy, RSS President and also 31 progressive farmers. Later, visited farmers’ fields of agriculture and horticulture crops, based on crop problems and suggested recommendations.
