ATraining programme on production technologies of rabi sunflower along withFieldday was organized at adopted village, Ibrahimpuron 29-03-2022 by Agricultural Research Station, Tornala. In this programme, Dr. S. Sridevi, Principal Scientist and Head, ARS, Tornala discussed about the importance of oilseeds in crop diversification, seed production in sunflowerand usage of monkey/bird scaring gun towardsthe control of monkeys, parrots and wild boars attack.Dr.N. Sainath, Scientist (SSAC), ARS, Tornala discussed on the scope of oilseeds for alternate cropping system and importance of soil testing. Dr. D. Swetha, Scientist (Agronomy), ARS, Tornala explained about production technologies in sunflower,opportunitiesof mechanization in sunflower and its advantages such as labour and time saving. Sri. J. Vijay, Co-ordinator, DAATTC, Tornala explainedabout water and weed management in oilseeds. Mr. M. Nagarjuna, AEO explained about procedure for solar fencing installation for control of wild boars and monkeys.Later, farmers visited sunflower FLDs field and host farmer Mr. Beeraiah and other FLD beneficiary sunflower farmers have raised problems in cultivation of sunflower and scientists suggested solutions. The programme was attended byMr. M. Nagarjuna, AEO, Ibrahimpur village from Department of Agriculture, Mr. D. Devaiah, Sarpanch, Mr. K. Naresh Reddy, President, RythuSamanvaya Samithi committee (RSSC), host farmer Mr. Beeraiah and 29 village farmers have participated in the field day on rabi sunflower.
