Training Programme on Hybrid Seed Production in Maize and Paddy for SC Farmers Was Conducted at Agricultural College, Aswaraopet on 03rd March 2020 Under ICAR SC-SP 2019-20

One day training programme on Hybrid Seed Production in Maize and Paddy was organized at Agricultural College, Aswaraopet on 3rd March 2020 for 50 SC beneficiaries of Peraigudem village of Aswaraopet mandal under ICAR Schedule Caste – Sub Plan – SC-SP for the year 2019-20. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. C. Narendra Reddy, Associate Dean of the college and enlightened the farmers’ to take up hybrid seed production for doubling the farmers’ income. As a part of the programme, the farmers were trained on principles of seed production, measures to be taken for maintenance of quality of the seed, management of pests and diseases in paddy & maize by teachers of the college. Field visit is also organized to the hybrid seed production plots of paddy and maize to provide hands on training to the farmers on important activities in hybrid seed production like rouging, maintenance of isolation distance, supplementary pollination in rice, detasselling in maize etc., The programme was organized by faculty of Genetics & Plant Breeding Dr. V. Venkanna, Dr. K. Gopala Krishna Murthy, Dr. S. Madhusudhan Reddy and Dr. P. Srilatha, Assistant Professor (Plant Pathology). The programme was attended by Dr. I.V.S. Reddy, Associate Professor (Horticulture) & Dr. T. Pavani, Assistant Professor (Entomology), Assistant Director of Agriculture, Aswaraopet Smt Afzal Begum, Mandal Agril. Officers Aswaraopet, Dammapet and Chandrugonda.
