Training programme was organized on soil test based fertilizer application in cotton and paddy by DAATTC, Tornala on 26.09.2024

DAATTC, Tornala has organized training programme on soil test based fertilizer application in cotton and paddy on 26.09.2024 at Ananthasagar rythu vedika, Chinnakodur (M), Siddipet District. The programme was started with welcome address by Sri. A. Jayanth kumar and he explained the cotton and paddy practices followed by the farmers in Chinnakodur. Smt. T. Radhika, District Agricultural Officer (FAC) attended as chief guest to the programme and addressed the farmers regarding crop diversification, usage of the pesticides based on the pest identified rather than blanket application and present situation of the crops due to recent rains. Later, Smt. Padma, ADA (Siddipet) informed house about the rythu nestham programme being jointly organized by Department of Agriculture and Agricultural University for the benefit of the farmers and urged farmers to make use of it timely. Dr. Ch. Pallavi, Scientist (CP) explained about fertilizer recommendations to be followed in cotton and paddy based on the soil test and advised the farmers to go for testing the their soils for adopting soil test based fertilizers application ultimately conscious use of fertilizers. Efficient use of plant nutrients through chemical fertilizers and organic manures is a good means for increasing productivity and profitability of cotton and paddy at the same time cost of fertilizers has gone up and their optimal use is required. Awareness on the pests and diseases was also explained in cotton (sucking pests, mealy bugs, bacterial diseases) and paddy (stem borer, gall midge, BLB) as per questions raised by the farmers. Later, followed by the field visit of cotton and paddy affected by the recent rains and recommended the measures to be taken. In this programme, AEOs (Shiva, Prashanth, Shireesha, Jameel, Laxmi, Ashok) and 45 no. of farmers have attended.
