A “Training programme and exposure visit of input dealers of Siddipet district on Water Conservation technics and Seed production in various crops” was jointly organized by ARS, Tornala and ATMA, Siddipet district. At the outset, Dr. S. Sridevi, Principal Scientist & Head, ARS, Tornala has welcomed the gathering and gave a brief note on farm ponds and other water conservation technologies. She also explained about the importance of farm ponds under rainfed conditions. Followed by, Dr. A, Saritha, Scientist (Pl. Br.) has explained about the importance quality seed in raising the good crop and measures to be taken up for quality seed production of pulses. Further, Dr. E. Umarani, Scientist (Pl. Br.) has emphasized about the important aspects viz., selection of seed material, isolation distance, rouging and processing to be followed in rice and also importance of participatory seed production. Later, input dealers were taken to the farm ponds and visited the experimental plots raised by the utilizing farm pond water. The participants also visited to the in to seed production plots of paddy and pulses and involved in roughing of offtypes. The programme was attended by Sri Shankar Rao, Programme facilitator, DAESI, Siddipet and also 38 input dealers from Siddipet district.
