The Bamboo, the giant grass, with more than 111 genera and about 1575 species, occur in a wide variety of soil and climatic conditions around the globe and play a critical role in providing ecological, livelihood and food security to mankind. Since ages, people in India have been involved in making bamboo products for storage and other domestic and agricultural uses. In modern context bamboo has been used as one of the raw materials to replace various applications of wood, plastic and metal through design intervention, to make products for use in day-to-day life and environmentally friendly and can be used these products for many years. They can venture into designing novel products like decorative materials realising the dwindling market of traditional bamboo products like mats, baskets, pen stands, flower vase etc. In this connection Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Wyra organized three days training programme from 04.02.2025 to 06.02.2025 for Scheduled Caste Women farmers on making hair accessories and bamboo crafts making like flower vase, home decorative, pencil stand for their income making staying at home and by utilizing the time and resources. Bamboo crafting and women accessories are on demand in the market and can be helpful in income generation. Dr K. Ravi Kumar, Programme Coordinator addressed the women farmer to turn into entrepreneurs encouraged the women to become self-resilient person, He emphasized on the market value of the bamboo handicrafts and how it can be beneficial for young entrepreneurs. and use the government schemes effectively put the health as priority. Addition to it use the social media effectively for portraying their products and selling them additionally the importance of financial freedom to women. Dr. V Chaitanya highlighted on nutritional food for women, vegetables for consumption and encouraged the women farmer for establishing kitchen at backyard. Smt P.S.M Phanisri gave brief on how the social media flatforms can be utilized for normal man and sell the produce and focus on steady income. The first day the women farmer taught on making women accessories for income generation by Smt. Ch. Anila and 05.02.25 to 06.02.2025 focussed on bamboo craft making by Smt Jaya Lakshmi.
