Village Adoption Programme on 30-10-2021 at Agricultural College, Jagtial

Adopted village team of Agricultural College, Polasa, Jagtial organized interface meeting on crop diversification for yasangi season on 30.10.2021 at adopted village Gullapeta, Jagtial Rural(M). In the programme Dr. G. Seshu, Assistant Professor (Genetics & Plant Breeding) briefed about the need for switching to the other Yasangi crops from Rice in the village and the alternate crops like Greengram, Blackgram, Castor & Groundnut that can be grown in the village. Dr. N. Mahesh, Assistant Professor (Agronomy) explained about the market driven crops to get higher net returns. Dr. T. Sravan, Assistant Professor (Agricultural Extension) informed about the seed availability of the crops, their seed rate, cost benefit analysis to the farmers. After the meeting farmers and crop scientists discussed about suitable crops, varieties and date of sowing of different Yasangi crops for promoting crop diversification and their willingness and problems to shift from paddy cultivation. Few farmers enquired about the availability of seed of Sugarcane and sunflower for cultivation. Based on their request, it is assured to the farmers that, if they want to come forward for cultivation of other crops, the college is ready for any kind of support in the form of arranging seed from different research stations, advisories during the crop growth period, demonstrations etc… Sri. J. Thirupathi Sarpanch, Sri. G.Thirupathi Reddy, Vice-Sarpanch of Gullaeta Village and around 25 farmers actively participated in the meeting and discussions.
