Most of the farmers were not giving much importance on micronutrients though they required small quantity but they play significant role in yield enhancement. Mr. M. Rajashekhar (SMS-Plant protection) given presentation on integrated pest management (IPM) aspects, insisted farmers to take up the spraying operations only pest incidence is above the ETL. Due to the congenial weather conditions this year there may be possibility of incidence of Brown Plant Hopper (BPH) in all the Paddy growing areas cautioned farmers to follow the IPM practices like alternate wetting & drying mode of irrigation, need based application of nitrogenous fertilizers and conservation of natural enemies like spiders & predatory beetles. Farmers raised questions on micronutrients deficiency & sucking pests incidence in Cotton for management of Magnesium deficiency we recommended spraying with Magnesium sulphate @ 10g/lt of water and for sucking pests management recommended installation of yellow sticky traps @ 15/acre.
