As per the instructions from DSA, PJTSAU World Environment Day was celebrated on 05.06.2023 at Virtual classroom in Agricultural College, Aswaraopet. Brain storming session on “Solutions to Plastic Pollutions” was conducted by the NSS unit to the first year and second year students of the college. About 30 students participated in the brainstorming session and presented their innovative, creative and practically possible solutions to the evaluation committee. The major solutions like WINGS exhibition (Waste into New Goods), Automatic Biodegradable Machines, Bio pots for nursery seedlings, Using massive plastic waste for construction of roads, rockets, statues, etc., enhancive use of biodegradable carry bags or reusable carry bags like Jute bags, banana fiber bags, drone dustbins for collecting plastic waste from water bodies. Dr.Syed Ahmad Hussain, the Associate Dean of the college had addressed the gathering by his adorable speech on plastic pollution and its hazardous impacts. Further he had guided NSS team to organize action bound awareness programmes at adopted village by involving student volunteers; to follow three R’s i.e Reduce, Reuse, Recycle; to conduct WINGS competitions to students. Later Dr.K.Gopala Krishna Murthy, Associate Professor (GPBR) expressed valuable points like conducting workshops on recycling plastic, plastic decomposition by super worms, proper incineration, compulsory usage of metal water bottles by the college students, avoid burning plastic in public places. As part of the programme eatable cutlery i.e tea cups prepared by using millets were exhibited and supplied for drinking tea during the programme. At the end of the programme token of appreciation badges were presented to the students who have participated in Brain storming session. Dr.V.Vekanna, Professor & Head (GPBR), Dr.S.Madhusudhan Reddy, Assistant professor (GPBR), Smt.Jambamma, Assistant Professor (AENG), Sri.K.Koteshwar Assistant professor (ENGL), Dr.P.Reddy Priya, Assistant Professor (AMBE), Dr.P.Neelima Assistant professor (HORT), Dr.I.Krishnateja Assistant professor (AECO), Dr.T.Sravan Kumar Assistant professor (AEXT) have participated in the programme. About 150 students have attended the programme. The entire programme was organized by the NSS PO’s Dr.R.Ramesh, Assistant Professor (CPHY), Dr.Kadasiddappa, MM and Dr.K.Shireesha.
