Collaborative Workshop On Climate Change, Agriclinics And Agribusiness Centers At RARS, Polasa, Jagtial On 22-12-2021
- Reginal Agricultural Research Station, Polasa, Jagtial in collaboration with National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) organized “Workshop on Climate Change, Agri Clinics and Agri-Business centres” at Silver Jublee hall, RARS on 22.12.21.
- Welcome address was given by Dr. D.A. Rajini Devi, Scientist (Agril. Economics). She gave brief introduction about sponsors of workshop i.e., NABARD, Karimnagar cluster.
- The session was chaired by Dr. M. Uma Devi, ADR, RARS, Jagtial, P. Ananth, AGM, NABARD, Karimnagar cluster, P. Manohar Reddy, DDM, NABARD, Karimnagar cluster, Dr. B. Balaji Naik, Sr. Scientist (Agro) & Head, RS & RRS, Rudrur, Suresh Kumar, DAO, Jagtial, Kalpana, ADA, Jagtial, P. Venkat Reddy, LDM, Jagtial, Bikshapathi, DV & AHO, Jagtial, Narsimha Rao, DFO, Jagtial.
- Dr. M. Uma Devi, ADR, RARS, Polasa addressed the gathering by creating awareness on importance of water management technologies to mitigate the impact of weather in different crops. She also explained about PJTASU initiatives towards climate change.
- P. Ananth, AGM, NABARD has given brief introduction on importance of climate change work shop.
- P. Manohar Reddy, DDM, NABARD briefed about “NABARDs role vis a vis Climate change”. He also provided information on climate change challenges, India’s initiatives towards climate change, country’s requirements in climate finance, climate funding architecture in India and NABARDs initiatives towards climate resilience building.
- Dr. B. Balaji Naik, Sr. Scientist (Agro) & Head, RS & RRS, Rudrur; key-note speaker of workshop enlighten the participants on “Climate change – Effect on Agriculture – Management & Mitigation strategies”. He mainly covered the concept of climate variability, global warming, climate change Emission scenarios and also the impact of weather shocks on crop yields and farm revenue.
- Dr. P. Revathi, Scientist (Agronomy), RARS, Jagtial explained about the impact of weather at different stages of plant growth and also stressed about the importance of “Climate smart technologies in Agricultural crops”.
- P. Venkat Reddy, Lead District Manager, Jagtial said that usage of renewable energy sources like biogas or bio diesel and reduced usage of non-renewable energy resources may minimize the losses contributed to nature, which in turn results in hastening climate change.
- Later, an interaction session with NABARD officials and teaching faculty of RARS, APT and Ag. College, Jagtial was conducted on “Winning project proposal from NABARD”.After that, certificates were distributed to the participants of climate change workshop.
- In the afternoon session, P. Ananth, AGM, NABARD emphasized the students of Agriculture Polytechnique, B.Sc. (Hons.) and trainees of ACABC scheme of KVK, Jammikuntaon “Importance and Establishment ofAgri Clinics and Agri-Business Centres” through ACABC schemes.
- Later, NABARD officials interacted with students and trainees of ACABC scheme by clarifying their queries and also provided informationon “List of Agri Ventures under Agri Clinic and Agri Business Centres”.
- Chief guest of workshop, Dr. M. Uma Devi, ADR, RARS, Polasa in her closing remarks briefed about the need for utilization of ACABC schemes to students.
- Representatives of NABARD, Karimnagar cluster, were happy over the guest lectures conducted by PJTSAU staff and they quoted the lectures were very informative and useful. They also expressed deep satisfaction over the way the programme is organized at RARS, Polasa, Jagtial and thanked organizers. Later, the meeting was ended formally with vote of thanks.
