AICRP on Pigeonpea RARS, Warangal has organized capacity building cum training programme to farmers on the eve of “World pulses day” on 10-02-2021 at Arepally village of Geesukonda mandal of Warangal rural district. On this occasion, a total of 100 farmers were attended, where the trainees were demonstrated with exhibitions, demonstrations field visits, live exhibits and distribution of foliar spray inputs related pulse crops. Dr. P. Jagan Mohan Rao garu, RARS, Jagtial addressed the gathering and recommended 80 gr/percapita/day proteins requirement, where as ICMR recommended the 56 gr/capital/day important actual qualiability in India is only 42 gr/capital/day. To meet the demand of proteins requirement, there is a urgent need to increase pulses area in India as well as in Telangana. He also explained about newly released varieties in Redgram, Greengram and machine harvestable Bengalgram varieties. Dr. R. Uma Reddy, ADR, Central Telangana Zone chaired the programme and emphasized about the scope of pulses area expansion suitable varieties which can be adopted indifferent cropping systems he also stressed about environment effects of pulse crops and effects soil fertility through extension cultivation of pulse crops. Smt. A. Saralakumar, Retired Scientist (Home science) delivered about nutritional importance of pulses for different age groups of the society. She also explained about the water use efficiency of pulse crops and water requirements for 1 kg production proteins through pulse crops, animal source. Dr. N. Sandyakishore, Scientist (Breeding), RARS, Warangal delivered about the pulse area statistus and also demonstrated about the utilization of hermetic bags for puls crop seed storage purpose. In the programme, farmers delivered about the feed back and satisfactory response about the cultivation of machine harvestable Bengalgram variety i.e., NBeG-47. Few farmers shared there best management practices in Bengalgram, i.e., time of sowing, method of sowing and time of irrigation. A total 6 different pulses growing farmers were felicitated on this occasion. Later released a booklet entitled “Aaparala Yajamanyam”. Finally the programme was concluded with field visit of Bengalgram crop raised under RKVY project. In this programme pulses Dr. M. Madhu, Scientist (Agronomy), Dr.D. Veeranna, Scientist (Entomology), Officials from Agriculture Department, Gram Panchayath Sarpanch, MPP, representatives of FPOs, Private companies were participated in the programme.
