On the occasion of World Pulse Day, a field day cum Awareness programme on “Pulses-Importance and best management practices” was organised by Mr. J. Vijay, Coordinator and Dr. Ch. Pallavi, Scientist (ToT), DAATTC, Tornala at Thirumalapur village, Doulthabad mandal, Siddipet District on 10-02-2022. Mr. J. Vijay explained about best management practices to be followed in pulses and discussed pulses role in soil fertility improvement and thereby growing pulses may increase gross income from very less investment rather than commercial crops. Dr. Ch. Pallavi gave brief note on importance of pulses and consumption pattern of pulses in the country and Telangana State. Later, farmers were taken to green gram field where in the queries raised by farmers on various crops like sesamum, pulses, paddy, cotton, soybean etc., were answered by the Scientists. Later, felicitated four farmers Yadaiah, Mallesham, Mallavva and Srinivas for higher yields in green gram cultivation, cotton, marginal women farmer and Jowar as crop diversification after soybean. G. Bagya, Sarpanch and Rythu Samanvaya Samithi cooordinator of the village, Agriculture Departmental officials Govindaraju (Mandal Agriculture Officer), AEOs Machender and Ranjith along with 35 farmers participated in the programme.Later participated World pulses day celebrations organized by ARS and APT, Tornala. This programme was chaired by MPDO Sammi Reddy and he opined to conduct fortnight visits to all villages of Siddipet district along with students to farmers field. In this programme, Mr. J. Vijay explained about the pulses importance in comparison with cereals in terms of health, soil fertility and economics under the chairmanship of Dr. S. Sridevi, Principal Scientist & Head, ARS, Tornala. In this programme, Devaiah, Sarpanch, 15 farmers from Tornala village, all APT, ARS and DAATTC staff along with 78 APT students have participated.
