Agricultural Research Station and DAATTC, Karimnagar organized training programme on management practices in pulse crops on the eve of World Pulse Day at Adopted village Perkapalli village of Saidapur mandal in Karimnagar District on 10-02-2022. Dr. K. Madan Mohan Reddy, Scientist (TOT) welcomed dignitaries on to the dias and also welcomed the farmers to the programme. The inaugural address on the eve of World Pulses Day was briefed by Dr.G.Manjulatha, Principal Scientist (Agro.) and Head and explained the importance of pulses in the day to day human life for maintaining the good health and also stressed that pulses are also known to have positive effects on soil quality including improved soil structure, increased soil aeration, stimulated soil biological activity, and increased organic matter. She briefed the activities carried out for socio economic development of the farmers in adopted village by the Agricultural Research Station, Karimnagar and also suggested the farmers to increase the cultivation area of pulse crop and improve the consumption of pulses for good health. Then the village Sarpanch Sri. Batthula Komuraiah has expressed his happiness towards the activities done by the Agricultural Research Station, Karimnagar for agriculture development in their village and also requested the farmers to cultivate the alternate crops to paddy. Dr.P.Madhukar Rao, Scientist (Agro.) briefed the crop production and crop protection aspects of pulse crops especially focused on fertilizer management and pest & disease management in the present situation. Later Dr. K. Madan Mohan Reddy, Scientist (TOT), DAATTC, Karimnagr has briefed about the use of PJTSAU YouTube channel and Vyavasayam monthly magazine in agriculture and allied sectors. He also emphasized the farmers to get subscribe PJTSAU You Tube channel for latest updates in agriculture technologies. He informed the farmers to utilise the service of KISAN SARATHI by using Toll free number 14426 or 1800 123 2175 to contact directly with the scientists for obtaining information on activities related to Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal husbandry and fisheries. Then the farmers Sri. Shankaraiah and Sri. Srinivas expressed their happiness regarding the activities carried out by the Agricultural Research Station, Karimnagar and also requested to continue the support for farmers. Later the farmer by name Sri. Vanaparthy Rayamallu was felicitated as the “Best Pulse Farmer” as he has been growing pulses regularly on a large scale in the village. Around 50 farmers along with Mandal Agricultural Extension Officer, Sri. Vamshi, Sarpanch Sri. B. Komaraiah, Upasarpanch, farmer ambassador Sri. P.Srinivas also participated in the programme.
