Celebration of World soil Day in adopted village (Damera) by Agricultural College, Warangal on 05-12-2020

Agricultural College, Warangal has organized World soil day in coordination with Department of Agriculture and National Fertilizers limited with a theme of “keep soil alive and protect soil biodiversity” at the adopted village Damera, Warangal Rural on 05-12-2020. The programme started with inviting guests on to the dias by the Dr. J. Kamalakar, Assistant Professor (SSAC), later Dr.T.Ramesh, Associate Dean Agricultural College, Warangal presided over the function. In his opening remarks Associate Dean emphasized the role of farmers in preserving the soil health and enhancing soil biodiversity by applying organic manures like vermicompost, green manure crops, crop rotation with legumes, application of tank silt, organic manures usage (sheep penning, FYM, poultry manure). Sri. A. Krishna, Assistant Director of Agriculture, Soil Testing Laboratory and Warangal attended as chief guest and enlightened the farmers with his practical experiences in improving soil health and integrated application of organic + inorganic manures. Dr. E. Narsaiah, Associate Professor & Head (SSAC) has explained the “importance of soil testing and its advantages”, soil test based fertilizer recommendations to reduce the input cost on fertilizers. Sri. T. Kamalakar, Agricultural Officer emphasized about soil health management. Smt. P. Madhavi, Assistant Professor (SSAC) concluded the programme with vote of thanks. Village adoption committee members Dr. G. Swathi and Dr. G. Santosh Kumar and 30 farmers had participated in the programme.
