World Soil Day Celebrations at KVK, Bellampalli on 05-12-2020

KVK, Bellampalli, Mancherial district organized the “World Soil Day” celebrations on a theme of “Keep Soil Alive – Protect Soil Biodiversity” on 5th December, 2020. Firstly, Dr. M. Rajeshwar Naik, Senior Scientist & Programme Coordinator, KVK, Bellampalli, Mancherial addressed the farmers on soil emergence, importance and need of soil conservation and biodiversity, usage of organic fertilizers instead of indiscriminate use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides which kills soil micro-organisms and eventually reduces the soil fertility. Sri. Gone Shyam Sundar Rao, ICAR – NAARM Board member who is the chief guest of this celebration is suggested the farmers to adopt the integrated farming practices along with integrated nutrient management to conserve biodiversity and also suggested to utilize the services of RAWEP students affiliated to Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bellampalli in creating awareness on organic farming and Integrated Farming Systems. Later ZP Vice Chairman Sri. Tongala Satyanarayana said that farmers should follow the advice of scientists so as not to fall into the hands of middlemen and traders. Further District Agriculture Officer Sri. Vinod Kumar said that chemical fertilizers should be used based on the soil test results and also revealed that indiscriminate use of fertilizers could lead to changes in the soil pH and enhance the risk of crop failure. Thirupathi, SMS (Crop Production), Smt. U. Sravanthi, SMS (Horticulture), Dr. B. Sathish, SMS (Agro Meteorology), Sri. R Mahesh Kumar, SRF (Fisheries), Smt. Surekha, A.D.A., Bellampalli, Sri. Srinivas, M.P.P., Bellampalli, Smt. Laxmi Ashok, Sarpanch (Budhakurdh), Sri. Ashok, Sarpanch (Malagurijala) and 150 No. of farmers from different villages of KVK, Bellampalli were participated.
