KVK, Kampasagar Celebrated World Soil Day – “Halt Soil Salinization & Boost Soil Productivity – 2021” at on 05-12-2021

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kampasagar, Nalgonda celebrated World Soil Day – “Halt Soil Salinization & Boost Soil Productivity – 2021” on 05.12.2021. Following topics were covered in the meeting,

  •  Problems caused by indiscriminate use of fertilizers and pesticides
  • Importance of Soil Testing, soil health card and STCR based fertilizers application for different crops and about Site Specific Nutrient Management (SSNM).
  • Integrated Nutrient Management (INM) for sustainable soil health and fertility
  • Importance of Green manuring and Bulky organic manures

Activity Details
  • Dr. M. Shankariah, Programme Coordinator & Head, KVK, Kampasagar addressed the gathering about the World Soil Day, its importance and significance. He stressed on importance of Soil Health quality and importance of Soil testing, Organic farming and Soil Biodiversity and briefed about soil problems due to indiscriminate use of fertilizers and pesticides lead to degrading soil health and microbial population and advised farmers to use Vermicompost, FYM and Poultry Manure for improving soil Organic content.
  • Dr. M. Shankar, SMS (Plant Protection) spoke on importance of green manuring and bulky organic manures for better soil quality and crop yield. Advised farmers to use Vermicompost, FYM and Poultry Manure for improving soil Organic content.
  • Dr. T. Bharath, SMS (Crop Production) explained about the importance of Organic manures in improving soil organic matter content and also explained how to collect soil sample (Dos and Don’ts) and importance of STCR based fertilizer application in paddy and advised farmers to go for soil testing before every year.
  • Distributed soil health cards to farmers and advised them to follow nutrient management based on their soil nutrient status provided in the health cards.
