World Soil Day at KVK, Kampasagar on 05-12-2020

“World Soil Day” was organized and conducted by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kampasagar on 05.12.2019. On this event, Dr. M.A. Aariff Khan Programme Coordinator & Head, KVK, Kampasagar inaugurated the programme and addressed the gathering about the importance of Soil Health quality and importance of Soil testing, Organic farming and Soil Biodiversity. Dr. C. Damodar Raju, Head, Agricultural Research Station, Kampasagar focused on soil microbes role in Organic farming which helps in improving soil health and fertility. Dr. K. Sumalini, Vice Principal i/c, Agricultural Polytechnic College, Kampasagar spoke on importance of green manuring and bulky organic manures for better soil quality and crop yield. Shri. Laxmi Narayana, Bayer Crop Science Manager, Suryapet Division explained about importance of Organic manures in improving soil condition and Organic matter content and advised farmers to go for soil testing before every year. Smt. Parvathi Chouhan, Mandal Agricultural Officer, Tripuraram briefed about soil problems due to indiscriminate use of fertilizers and pesticides lead to degrading soil health and microbial population and advised farmers to use Vermicompost, FYM and Poultry Manure for improving soil Organic content. Shri. Veeraswamy, Mitra Foundation NGO, Dr. Reddys Lab, Miryalaguda, Agriculture Division requested farmers not to burn paddy stubbles and straw after harvest at field. In this programme KVK, Scientists Dr. M. Shankar, Dr. T. Bharath, T. Himabindu, S. Pallavi, G. Krishnaveni, J. Jeshwanthi, A. Sai Kiran and Shri. Ramya, Assistant Professor, APT, Kampasagar and progressive farmers (30 No.) from different villages were participated and gave feedback on this occasion. All together 45 members participated in the programme. Finally 300 Soil Health Cards were distributed to farmers by the guests present on the Dias.
