Agricultural Research Station, Karimnagar of Professor Jayashankar Telangana Agricultural University organized World Soil Day on December 5th, 2024 as a means to focus attention on the importance of healthy soil and advocating for the sustainable management of soil resources with the theme of "Caring for Soils: Measure, Monitor, Manage," The programme was organized at Rythu Vedika of Baddipally village of Kothapally mandal of Karimnagar district to create awareness on importance of soils and measures to protect the soils for future generations among the farming community. Dr. P. Madhukar Rao, Scientist (Agro.) and Adopted Village Incharge has invited all the dignitaries on to the dias and informed the farmers on the importance of world soil day and conservation practices to be followed for soil health management. Dr. A.Vijaya Bhaskar, Senior Scientist (Pl.Path.) sensitized the farmers on Usage of biofertilizers for soil conservation. Dr. G. Usharani, Scientist (Plant Breeding) detailed the farmers on the significance of soil health, method of soil sample collection for soil analysis from farmer’s field and interpretation of soil health card results. Dr. D.Sravani, Scientist (Plant Breeding) detailed the farmers on crop residue management and crop diversification for soil health management. Coromandal International Limited Staff, Marketing Manager Sri. Prudvi (Agronomist) explained about the company organic products viz., Carbon Plus (City Compost) and Enrich (Neem and Castor Cake) for enriching soil health and given few demos for farmers to illustrate the results of using those products so that the other farmers could make use of them in the next season. The Agricultural Extension Officer, encouraged the farmers to surely carry out soil sample analysis and go for soil test based demonstrations for maintaining soil fertility. The soil sampling process was demonstrated for the farmers and Soil Health cards were distributed to the adopted village farmers. Field diagnostic visit in maize and groundnut was carried out and necessary pesticides were suggested to the concerned farmers. Coromandal International Limited Staff Sri. Anil, Prem, Dharma and around 75 farmers including farmers from adopted village Nagulamallial, Baddipally, Kondapur and other surrounding villages have participated in the programme and made a grand success.
