World Soil Day - Celebrations in Adopted village of College of Agriculture, Rajendranagar, Guduru on 05-12-2022

Village Adoption team under the guidance of Chairman and the Associate Dean,            Dr. C. Narendra Reddy, College of Agriculture, Rajendranagar organized “World Soil Day” in Gudur, Adopted village with the theme “Save soil – A source of life. Dr. Jayalekha (Plant Breeding and Alumni) was the chief guest and represents Isha- save soil campaign. Programme was attended by 50 farmers. Dr. G. Jayasree, Sr.Prof & HoD, SSAC gave special lecture. The programme focused on the following
1. Protecting the soil from pollution
2. Salinization of soil and its prevention
3. Fertilizer usage and its reduced use
4. Use of organic fertilizers and bio control agents
5. Improving the organic carbon status in soil
6. Proper ratio of usage of fertilisers and correct dosage
7. Sustainable practices for maintaining the soil status and handing over the land for future
generations
8. Role of private and govt. agencies towards maintaining the sustainable status
9. Demonstration of soil testing kits
10. Importance of soil test results for reduced use of fertilizers (Soil Health card)
11. Improving the productivity of the soils by adopting sustainable practices
12. Interaction with the farmers (Q and A)
13. Student participation in demonstration of soil test kit and promotion of bio fertilizers / bio
control agents
14. Awareness rally on save soil

The participants included State Department officials, representatives of SBI Sri. Sushil Kumar, Manager, SBI, Timmapur branch, Sri B.Sathaiah, Sarpanch, Sri. Uppala Dayanand, Deputy Sarpanch,  Mrs. K. Anitha, AEO, Agriculture Department, Village adoption committee convenor Dr. T.Ramesh, adopted village team members Dr. K. Shailaja, Department of SSAC, Dr. Y. Samatha Parameshwari, Agronomist, Dr. K. Aruna, Department of Agricultural Extension, Dr. I Shakuntala Devi, Agricultural Economics.
