KVK, Palem organized World Soil Day Celebrations on 05.12.2022 at KVK, Palem premises

KVK, Palem, Nagarkurnool dist has been organized World Soil Day Celebrations in collaboration with RARS, Palem, Nagarkurnool on 05.12.2022 at KVK, Palem premises. In this regard, KVK, Palem has organized training programme on Soil Health Management to create awareness among the farmers, students about crop residue management, Soil testing & soil test based fertilizer application and vermicompost preparation. Dr.M.Sujatha, ADR, RARS, Palem narrated about the importance of soil fertility, balanced fertilization in enhancing crop yields and sustaining soil fertility through soil test based nutrient management. Dr.T.Shashikala, PS&Head, AICRP on forage crops, ARI, Hyderabad highlighted the importance of soil testing in fertilizer recommendations and explained the benefits of soil health cards. Dr.T.Prabhakar Reddy, Programme Coordinator, KVK, Palem illustrated the importance of crop residue management for enhancement of soil fertility status, methods of composting by using all the agricultural waste. Dr.T.Sukruth Kumar, SS (Soil Science) has stressed about waste management opportunities in rural villages. Dr.RVT Balazzii, PS (Agronomy) stressed on management practices for high forage production. Dr.D.Vijaya Lakshmi, Scientist, RARS, Palem highlighted the importance of waste management, vermicompost preparation for efficient utilization of the waste. Mr.K. Ramakrishna, SMS (Crop Production), KVK, Palem has explained soil sampling procedure and interpretation of results. Later distributed soil health cards to farmers. The programme was attended by farmers, students and all the staff members of KVK and RARS, Palem. A total of 198 participants were participated.
