World Water Day Celebrations by Water Technology Centre, PJTSAU Field day at adopted village Edira, Chaudariguda Mandal on 22-03-2021

A field day was organised in the adopted village Edira(V), Chaudhariguda (M), Rangareddy (Dist.) as a part of creating awareness on valuing water to the farmers on the occasion of World Water Day on 22nd March 2021. Dr. K Avil Kumar, Director, Water Technology Centre, Dr. D. Srilatha, Principal scientist (Agro), Maize Research Centre, Dr. T. Anjayya, Sr. Scientist (SSAC), AICRP on micronutrients, Dr Ramakrishna Babu, Co-ordinator, DAATTC, Mahabubnagar, Dr. T. L Neelima, Scientist (Agro), WTC, Mrs. Rajeshwari, AEO in addition to Mr. G. Balaraju, Sarpanch, Mr. Chandrashekhar, vice-Sarpanch and 30 farmers participated in the programme. Scientists interacted with the farmers and explained about the importance of world water day and its significance and how water has to be utilised judiciously in agriculture. Also explained the best management practices to be followed in rice cultivation like mechanization, direct seeded rice, timely operations, reduce the wastage of use the Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD) technology, importance of green manuring and other doubts raised by the farmers were also clarified. A field visit was conducted to the field of Mr. Damodar Reddy, farmer who has taken up wet direct seeded rice during rabi season and the crop is now at panicle initiation stage. Dr. K. Webinar on Water efficiency and Nutrigation by Mr. A. S. Subba Rao, NETAFIM:
A guest lecture on “Water efficiency and Nutrigation” was delivered by Mr. A. S. Subba Rao, Netafim to the staff and students of Agronomy and Horticulture department. A total of 30 members participated in the webinar.
