Diploma Courses Offered in PJTSAU

Diploma courses are meant to impart practical grass root level training in the areas of Agriculture, Organic Agriculture and Agricultural Engineering.

The main objectives of the Diploma courses are:
  • To impart theoretical and Practical training to the SSC (10th class) passed students to develop skilled man power in agriculture.
  • To provide technical manpower to the Government sectors/NGOs/Agro-based Industries etc.
  • To provide an opportunity to these students to get admission in the higher education of the B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture and B.Tech.(Agricultural Engineering) Degree Courses through AGRICET and AGRI ENGGCET entrance examinations respectively conducted by University every year.

The Diploma courses were started with an objective to impart skill oriented training and knowledge in Agriculture at grass root level to SSC passed students to enable them to serve the farming community and also to give a thought to become entrepreneurs.


Following Three types of Diploma Courses are being offered at present in PJTSAU through various Polytechnics:-

  • Diploma in Agricultural Engineering

Out of above three courses, first two courses are of 2 years, while third course is of 3 years duration. Medium of instruction in English.

University Polytechnics

  • Agriculture Polytechnic, Palem was the first Polytechnic established in University during the year 1989 which was also first ever Agriculture Polytechnic established in India.
  • There are 12 Polytechnics (11 Agriculture, and one in Agricultural Engineering) under University Control.

For Diploma Students aspiring to go for higher studies, PJTSAU is providing 15% of seats for B.Sc.(Hons.)Ag., and B.Tech. Agricultural Engineering through AGRICET and AGRIENGCET entrance exams. Also the Telangana State council of Higher Education (TSCHE), Govt. of Telangana has accorded permission vide G.O.Rt.No. 113, dated 15.07.2022 for entry of Diploma holders in Agriculture, Organic Agriculture and Agricultural Engineering into B.A, B.Com, B.B.A and other B.Sc. biology stream programmes after considering the 2 year/3 year diploma programmes equivalent to Intermediate.

The University and affiliated Polytechnics of PJTSAU were established across the different zones of Telangana State.

Affiliated Polytechnics

  • There are 6 polytechnics (Four in Agriculture, one in Organic Agriculture and one in Agricultural Engineering) under private sector affiliated to PJTSAU.
  • Ekalavya Organic Agriculture polytechnic is the first organic farming Polytechnic established and affiliated to PJTSAU during the year 2018.
  • Total intake of students in University Polytechnics is 260 and in Private Polytechnics is 360. Thus grand total of students admitted every year is 620.

 

Selection process for Diploma Courses:-

  • Admissions are based on ranks obtained in TG-POLYCET entrance exam being conducted by State Board of Technical Education and Training (SBTET), Telangana State every year.
  • Online applications will be called for by placing the notification along with prescribed application form and prospectus in the University website www.pjtsau.edu.in after declaration of 10th class and TG-POLYCET results.
  • Eligible students should apply through online in the prescribed proforma of application form and also upload required copies of certificates as per the guidelines given in the prospectus along with payment of prescribed application fee.
  • Later the counselling will be conducted at University and students will be called as per ranks obtained in TG-POLYCET exam & admissions in to various polytechnics will be done. Schedule of dates for counseling will be placed in University website (www.pjtsau.edu.in).


Eligibility criteria:-

  • The candidates who wish to seek admission into Diploma Courses of PJTSAU should have qualified in TG-POLYCET under Agricultural stream conducted by State Board of Technical Education and Training (SBTET), Hyderabad.
  • Candidate should have passed SSC Examination conducted by State Board of Secondary Education, T.S./A.P. or any other examination recognised as equivalent thereto by the Board of Secondary Education, T.S./A.P. such as Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Indian Council for Secondary Education (ICSE), National Institute of Open School (NIOS), Telangana Open School Society(TOSS), A.P. Open School Society (APOSS), X Class Examination conducted by various State Boards of Secondary Education in India with Science as one of the subjects, and obtained at least 35% marks in the qualifying examination as applicable.
Age:-

The candidates for admission to first year Polytechnic Diploma Courses in the University shall be required to have completed 15 years of age as on 31st August of the year of admission with an upper age limit of 22 years.

Reservation of seats for the candidates coming from Rural Area:-

  • Sixty per cent (60%) of the seats in various diploma courses of PJTSAU are reserved for candidates who have studied for a minimum of 4 years in schools located in Non-Municipal areas.
  • ANNEXURE-I (Non-Municipal Area Certificate): It is a proforma to be certified by the Headmaster of the School with his office seal that the candidate has studied for a minimum period of four years in schools located in Non-Municipal areas during their period of study from 1st to 10th class.
  • If ANNEXURE-I is not filled in or duly signed by the concerned Head of Institution or officer along with office seal, the claim of the candidates will be rejected under Rural Area category.
