Knowledge Management Centre

The Library is considered as the “heart of any educational institution”, as it serves to support the Course Curriculum and also research activities of the Institution. The Knowledge Management Centres of PJTSAU has modern collection of books in Agriculture and Allied Sciences, subscribes to National and International Journals, Magazines, Online Databases, Statistical Databases and e-Resources in Agriculture and allied sciences. Apart from the normal functions, KMC has been an active partner in various library related consortiums under ICAR-NARS. The collection of Knowledge resources and up-to-date information services facilitated at KMC, PJTSAU would make it act as one stop solution to Students, Scientists, Faculty, Extension Specialists and Administrators to access the required information with ease.

The KMC through its campus network and Remote Login facility which are enabled to provide access to huge data base collection of subscribed online resources. Beside, the KMC App enables the users to access bibliographical details of large collection of print resources, while Web-OPAC will facilitate the users to search and explore the availability of holdings of KMC from any place of their convenience 24x7.

All the PJTSAU Knowledge Management Centres have around 1,55,000 volumes of Books in Agriculture and allied disciplines which includes Textbooks, Reference Books, Book Bank Scheme collection, Competitive Examination Books, Advances etc. The book collection is updating with latest editions of volumes regularly.
All the PJTSAU Knowledge Management Centre have around 11130 volumes theses in that PG :9775 and Ph.D : 1355
Knowledge Management Centres are subscribes/renewed to around 88 Indian and 14 Foreign Journals. It has rich collection of Back-Volumes (P26401) bounded and made available for reference of the users.
KMCs subscribes to important magazines i.e. Weekly, Fortnightly, Monthly etc which covers the competitive examination syllabus of various bodies like ASRB Exams, ICAR-NET, CSIR-NET, AOs, AEOs, TSPSC, APPSC, UPSC, SSC, Banks, TOEFL, GRE, IELTS, also subscribes to over 20 daily News papers in different languages viz. Telugu, Hindi, English and Urdu.

Sections of KMC

The Knowledge Management Centres are comprised of following sections:

Circulation Section

The Circulation Section looks after the Issue and Return of Books, Collection of Over Due Charges, Processing the membership cards etc. This section functions from 10.00 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. on all working days. The users can borrow/renew/return the books on all days by using RFID Self Check system.

Periodical Section

PJTSAU Knowledge Management Centre subscribes various National & International Journals, Magazines, Competitive Examinations Material and provides latest and nascent information to its users.

Reference Section

The Reference section houses the KMC reference books, which are meant to provide quick and accessible information on any particular topic. Reference books include the topics which are intended to guide researchers in their studies. The copy of the books recommended by faculty and students are kept for reference purpose. Reference material of KMC is not meant for issue outside.

Book Bank Section

PJTS Agricultural University, Knowledge Management Centres provide important books under special book bank scheme, supplied by the concerned Social Welfare Departments for the benefit of the SC, ST and BC students. Special text-book collection is being built up at every KMC campus of all PJTSAU Colleges.

Competitive Examination Cell

A separate Competitive Examination Cell has been established at all the PJTS Agricultural University campuses for the benefit of students appearing for various competitive examinations and higher studies. The Competitive cell provides useful regarding material for the aspirants of ICAR Examinations, ASRB, ARS, ICAR-JRF/NET, UPSC, APPSC, GMAT, TOEFL and all Bank exams.

OPAC

The Knowledge Management Centre, PJTSAU, provides Online Public Access Catalogue to the Teachers, Scientists, Extension Specialists and Students. Three All-in-One touch computer systems have been arranged to enable user to search OPAC at various sections viz the Book Section, Periodicals Section and Circulation section to search and retrieve the information of the holdings of KMC.

Reprographic Services

Photocopying facilities have been provided at all the KMCs in College Campuses for the benefit of Students.

Digital Library

The digital infrastructural facilities viz., Interactive Digital Board, Computers, Internet facility, provided at KMC, enables the users to utilize the electronic information viz CeRA, CAB Abstracts, Krishiprabha, EBSCO, Indiastat.com, CRC Netbase e-Books, CAB e-Books, Elsevier e-Books etc. for the purpose of improvement of academic and research programmes. Internet facility is facilitated in all the campuses of Knowledge Management Centres.

Library Security

3M Electronic library security system has been implemented to protect valuable print resources from theft pilferage.

RFID Self Check System

All the books are enabled and programmed with RFID Tags for hassle free circulation using 24 x 7 Self Check System and Inventory Management.

Research Carrels

The KMC has 12 Research Carrels established in 2021 for the purpose of using PG and Ph.D Scholars. The Carrels are equipped with fully air-conditioned ,Wifi facility, Laptop charging points for studying longer duration.

PGS-501 Library Services Course

The PJTSAU KMCs conducts a Non Credit compulsory course on Library Information Services Course (PGS-501) for the PG and Ph.D. Students. The main objective of the course is to educate the users on library resources, its access, formats of information resources, online resources, hands on training on e—Resources, Collection of Literature, Writing Articles, Theses Writing etc.

The following publications are being brought out from KMC for the benefit of Teachers, Scientist, Extension specialist and Students.

Exchange of University Publications

The KMC distributes Journal of Research, PJTSAU to various national and international institutes under exchange of publications. In return, the KMC at Rajendranagar receives foreign and Indian publications.

Rules and Regulations

  • The books and other material of KMCs are open access to books and shelved in a definite order for easy retrieval. Textbooks, rare books, theses and dissertations should be referred in the assigned area.
  • The students, teachers, scientists, staff can access online/e-Resources like CeRA, CAB Abstracts, Indiastat.com, CMIE Database, Theses Repository i.e. Krishikosh, e-journals, e-books, OPAC etc, at free of cost.
  • Personal books, printed reading material etc. are not allowed in the KMC.
  • Personnel belongings like Printed Books, raincoats, umbrellas, etc, should be deposited at the property counter in entrance.
  • Carrying books out of the KMC without authorization, marking or underlining in anyway, or disfiguring and mutilating books or property is a misconduct, which may lead to withdrawal of membership and disciplinary action.
  • The members should ensure the proper borrowing of not in possession of his or her membership card, or if he or she is drawing books for others.
  • The University Librarian can recall the books at any time from any user; their issue will be suspended during the period of stocktaking.
  • 'No Dues Certificate' should be obtained from the KMC after surrendering the borrowers' cards and clearing all the dues. In case of the loss of borrowers' card 'No Dues Certificates' can be issued only 14 days after the normal expiry of the membership.
  • Change of address and designation should be immediately reported at the Circulation Desk.
  • Smoking, chewing tobacco, pan masala is strictly prohibited in all areas of the KMC.
  • Keep the KMC premises clean
