On October 24, 2024, The District Agricultural Advisory and Transfer of Technology Centre (DAATTC) at Sangupet organized a field day programme focused on High-Density Planting System (HDPS) Cotton as a part of special project under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research - Central Institute for Cotton Research (ICAR-CICR). The event was held in Reddykhanpur Village, Haathnoora Mandal, Sangareddy District, under the National Food Security Mission (NFSM) 2024. The field day took place on the demonstration plot of farmer Sri. Nagesh garu. Sri. K. Rahul Viswakarma, Coordinator of DAATTC, Sangupet, Jogipet presented the objectives and major advantages of the ICAR-CICR Special Project on cotton and discussed about Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices related to cotton and other crops which are grown by farmers at that particular village highlighting the importance of HDPS cotton cultivation in light soil conditions prevalent in the district. Smt. K. Saritha (Scientist) provided an in-depth explanation of HDPS Cotton, covering key aspects such as the best times for sowing, the advantages of using pneumatic planters for mechanized planting, and the importance of timely application of growth regulators.She highlighted the benefits associated with HDPS Cotton cultivation. Sri. Sanjeeva Reddy garu, a farmer engaged in HDPS Cotton cultivation, shared his insights on the practice. He discussed key topics including optimal sowing times, strategies for managing weeds and fertilizers, yield results, and the economic benefits he experienced. The event fascinated 52 farmers from nearby villages, including Borpatla, Kaasala, Panyala, Konyala and Doulthabad, showing significant community commitment in modern cotton farming techniques.
