Training Programme cum Distribution of PP Chemicals to FLD Pigeonpea farmers for the year 2021-22 at RARS, Warangal on 30-10-2021

Regional Agricultural Research Station, AICRP, Pigeonpea, Warangal organized Training Programme cum Distribution of Plant Protection Chemicals to FLD Pigeonpea farmers for the year 2021-22. Dr. R. Uma Reddy, Associate Director of Research, Regional Agricultural Research Station, Warangal, chaired the programme and apprised the farmers for cultivating pulses crops in a sequential cropping systems, explained about importance of pigeonpea crop, and he urged the farmers to increase the red gram area and to enhance the production to meet the consumption demand of the State. Further ADR advised the farmers to follow timely rendered agro advisory services from the scientists of RARS, Warangal to implement the front line demonstration with a competitive spirit for getting higher yields and to popularize the technology demonstrated. Later the officer-in-charge of FLD Pigeonpea Dr. M. Madhu, Scientist (Agronomy) briefed about present situation of pigeonpea crop at different places and explained about water management and harvest of the crop. Later Dr. N. Sandhyakishore, Scientist (Plant breeding), briefed about all suitable redgram varieties i.e medium and mid early duration and their characters, (Telangana kandi, Warangal kandi-1 & Rudreshwara) and also explained about importance for installation of bird perches and pheromone traps. Dr. B. Anil Kumar, Senior Scientist (Entomology) explained about different pest i.e., Maruca vitrata, Helicoverpa armigera, podfly in pigeonpea, later Dr. G. Padmaja, Scientist (Plant Pathology) explained about disease management in pigeonpea. Later, farmers expressed their feedback on yield potential of pigeonpea varieties. At the end of the programme, plant protection chemicals and pheromone traps distributed to the beneficiary famers. In this programme, about 50 farmers from different mandals of Station Geesukonda, Ghanpur, Chilpur, Damera, Rayaparthi and Zaffargad of Warangal Urban, Warangal Rural and Jangoan districts were participated.
