DAATTC, Tornala organised the field day on sunflower in rice fallows on 25.02.2025 at Ghanapur village, Thoguta Mandal, Siddipet district. Initially, host farmer Sri. Akkaram Swamy has shared his experiences in zerotillage cultivation of Sunflower after paddy without stubble burning and crop management practices followed by him in NDSH-1012 and check Syngenta SB-293, and he is expecting the yield around 8-10q/acre. Sri. J. Vijay, Coordinator addressed the gathering and explained about advantages of growing Sunflower through zero tillage and with minimal usage of moisture from soil as well as under less irrigation facilities. Dr. Ch. Pallavi, Scientist (CP) has explained the production practices especially weed management in zerotillage sunflower which are helpful to improve the yields right from sowing to harvesting and given suggested to rotate the crop with sunflower instead of paddy-paddy cropping system. Agriculture Extension Officer, Mr. Devender has also suggested the other farmers to take the other crops like sunflower, sesame, pulses, maize, vegetables as part of crop diversification. A total of 24 farmers have participated in the programme.
