Organizing and Conducting One day Awareness cum Training Programme on World Pulses Day, 2021 at KVK, Kampasagar on 10-02-2021

One day “Awareness Cum Training Programme on World Pulses Day, 2021” was organized and conducted by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kampasagar on 10.02.2021. S. Pallavi, SMS (Extension) addressed the gathering and invited the guests onto the dias and briefly explained about the event World Pulses Day. Dr. M. Shankar, SMS (Plant Protection)and Progarmme Coordinator i/c, KVK, Kampasagar addressed the gathering and briefed about the importance of Pulses in our daily food intake and nutrition provided by them in maintaining our lives healthy. Dr. K. Sumalini, Senior Scientist, Agriculture Research Station, Kampasagar spoke on importance pulses and why we celebrate World Pulses Day and their nutrient enrichment ability in maintaining human and soil life healthy. After that, Dr. I. Swarnalatha Devi, Principal & Head, Agricultural Polytechnic College, Kampasagar explained the role of Pulses in maintaining our lives healthy and how much pulse a human should take on daily basis as per recommendations of ICMR and benefits of crop rotation using pulses and advised the farmers to go for pulses production before Kharif season starts. Dr. T. Bharath, SMS (Crop Production), KVK, Kampasagar explained the current scenario of pulse production and highlightened the constraints in pulse production and explained the strategies to overcome those constraints to achieve better income and soil health. Dr. V. Sridhar, Assistant Professor (Genetics & Plant Breeding), Agricultural Polytechnic College, Kampasagar took lecture on different pulses available to cultivate and their production technologies such as Seasons for cultivation, duration Varieties and Hybrids and their package of practices etc and cleared the doubts of farmers about problems in terms of production and Disease and pest management in pulse cultivation. Smt. Parvathi Chowhan, Agricultural Officer, Tripuraram Mandal participated and explained about the what are the schemes and polices that are existing to encourage farmers interests in taking Pulses production and also marketing facilities available for better marketing and getting better price. In this programme and KVK, Scientists T. Himabindu and A. Sai Kiran and farmers (50 No.) from different villages were participated.
