Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Palem in collaboration with Central Institute of Cotton Research (ICAR-CICR ), Nagpur has organized a field visit program on the mass trapping method for Pink Bollworm Management in Cotton under the Tribal sub plan (TSP) at Laxmapur thanda village of Amrabad Mandal on 29.10.2022. In this program, Mr. M. Rajashekhar, (SMS-PP) briefed about the importance of mass trapping for effective management of Pink Bollworm in Cotton. Pink bollworm is one of the major and dreaded pest which is causing severe damage in Cotton production. Collected data on trap catches and showcased PBW damage symptoms to the farmers. After that demonstrated the installation of pheromone traps in the farmer’s field emphasized on pheromone traps help in the mass trapping of Pink bollworm in Cotton and which ultimately help in the reduction of the usage of harmful pesticides. Right now the crop is at the boll-bursting stage, however, the incidence of PBW is below ETL. After that distributed a total of 1000 lures covering 25 acres to the beneficiaries.
