KVK, Palem organized Field Day on “High Density Planting System (HDPS)” at Vasanthapur village, Bijinepally Mandal, Nagarkurnool District on 16.12.2023. A field day on High density planting system in cotton was organized at Vasanthapur village in Sri. Anjaneyulu’s field. Generally in Vasanthapur village, the maximum area under cotton cultivation. Dr. T. Prabhakar Reddy, Programme Coordinator addressed the gathering regarding the major objectives of this technology, the complete information, package of practices and best management practices specially fertilizers and canopy management of the technology and encouraged the farmers to adopt the technology to achieve the better yields in the coming seasons and explained how HDPS is advantageous over Normal planting system in terms of mechanization, escaping Pink boll worm, other disease incidence and choosing the second crop for the rabi. Further, interacted with farmers regarding the current crop condition, problems in various crops and given needful advisories. Dr. O. Shaila, SMS (PP) emphasized on the ETL based management of Pests and diseases in HDPS cotton, other rabi crops as well. Dr. N. Lavanaya, SMS (Agromet) highlighted the weather based advisories in various crops and encouraged the farmers to follow weekly bulletins released by the KVK, palem. Dr. B. Rajashekar SMS (Agril. Extn.) of encouraged the farmers to take up the High density planting system and explained that which is very much suitable for the existing soil type and weather condition. Further, highlighted the balanced dietary habits to be followed by the farmers and encouraged them by distributing kitchen garden kits. Dr. T. Prabhakar Reddy, Programme Coordinator, Dr. O. Shaila, SMS (PP), Dr. B. Rajashekar, SMS (Agril. Extn), Dr. N. Lavanya SMS (Agromet) and R. Raghuvaran Singh (YP II), R. Gouthami(YP I), P. Venkatesh (YP I), M. Rajesh Kumar (YP I), B. Harish (YP I), V. Pushpalatha (YP I), KVK, Plaem and 54 farmers were participated in this programme.
