As per the guidelines of the University, ‘Seed Mela’ was organized on 24.05.2022 at ARS, Adilabad premises in which 69 farmers (5 women; 64 men) belongs to Adilabad (R), Jainath, Bela, Tamsi, Gudihatnoor, Indravelly, Utnoor, Narnoor, Gadiguda & Boath mandals of Adilabad district were participated. The programme is started with University Song. In this programme, Sri Jogu Ramanna Garu, Hon’ble MLA, Adilabad Assembly Constituency; Dr. Sreedhar Chauhan, Pr. Scientist (Agro.) & Head, ARS, Adilabad; Dr. N. Ramesh, ADR (R), Adilabad; Dr. Y. Praveen Kumar, Programme Coordinator, KVK, Adilabad; Dr. V. Thirumala Rao, Sr. Scientist (Pl. Br.); Sri Goverdhan Yadav, REAC member, NTZ, PJTSAU; Dr. V. Suchitra, Senior Scientist (Hort.), HRS, Adilabad; Sri Daratla Kishtu, President, Rythu Ikya Vedika, Adilabad district; Dr. Naresh Jadhav, Progressive farmer cum public representative, Adilabad and Scientists of ARS & KVK, Adilabad were graced the occasion. Dr. Sreedhar Chauhan, Pr. Scientist (Agro.) & Head, ARS, Adilabad emphasized about the importance of ‘Seed Mela’, a unique programme organized by the University. Similarly, explained about the package of practices of soybean cultivation & Soybean seed production aspects; Dr. N. Ramesh, ADR (R), Adilabad spoken about agriculture department programmes; Dr. Y. Praveen Kumar, Programme Coordinator, KVK, Adilabad suggested the farmers to grow the University developed & released varieties, as the University will release the varieties by following all procedures of Government policies with standard germination tests & seed quality tests etc.; Dr. V. Thirumala Rao, Sr. Scientist (Pl. Br.) briefed about the Cotton scenario in the district & disease management and importance of HDPS in Cotton; Sri Goverdhan Yadav, REAC member, NTZ, PJTSAU expressed his thankfulness for conducting the Seed Mela at the right time which will be very helpful to the farmers to choose right varieties to be sown in ensuing kharif season; Dr. V. Suchitra, Senior Scientist (Hort.), HRS, Adilabad briefed about to cultivation of the horticulture crops besides the agriculture crops to gain additional income; Sri Daratla Kishtu, President, Rythu Ikya Vedika, Adilabad district expressed his opinion that, as a outsourcing seed production farmer gained the good yields by taking advise of the Scientists of ARS, Adilabad and there is a need to establishment of seed processing units & cold storage units in the district for processing & storage of the seed for quality germination seeds and at the end Dr. Naresh Jadhav emphasized about spurious quality of Bt. gene in the Pvt. Hybrids needs to be monitored & prosecuted. Finally, Sri Jogu Ramanna Garu, Hon’ble MLA, Adilabad Assembly Constituency was chaired the session & suggested the farmers to do the soil tests and accordingly go for selection of crops, seeds to be sown and fertilizers to be applied in the ensuing kharif season. Distributed Redgram seed material (brought from the RARS, Warangal) Warangal Kandi-1 (WRGE-97) to the selected farmers. In total 189 kgs of Redgram, Warangal Kandi-1 (WRGE-97) seed was sold during the programme. Further, Scientist farmers’ interaction was made and answered the queries of farmers by the Scientists of the station.
