KVK, Palem in collaboration with RARS, Palem organized seed mela at RARS, Palem on 24.05.2022. The main theme of the program to display & distribute the quality seed developed by the PJTSAU University to the farmers for ensuing vaanakalam season-2022. The program was chaired by Dr. M. Govardhan (ADR, RARS, Palem) briefed about the role of quality seed in yield enhancement, good agricultural practices in Paddy cultivation. Suggested best measures to overcome the weed problem in dry & wet direct seeded rice. Dr. T. Prabhakar Reddy (PC, KVK, Palem) spoken about the seed production in pulses, usage of bio-fertilizers for seed & soil treatment and integrated nutrient management methods for field crops. Dr.M. Sujatha (PS-Oil seeds) insisted to all the farmers cultivate the nontraditional oil seed crops like sunflower, Safflower, Sesame after paddy cultivation during yasangi season. All the Groundnut, Castor, Millets team scientists presented the best management practices in all the crops. After that farmer scientist’s interaction was organized farmers raised the questions scientists given suitable management methods. After that all the farmers purchased the quality seed of RARS & KVK, Palem available at seed mela. In this program scientist of RARS, KVK, palem and a total 152 farmers have participated.
